Combined Day Includes Machine Made Lined Roman Blinds & Machine Made Lined Curtains

This full day course is designed for those who would like to combine the skills needed to make curtains and Roman blinds into one full day's learning. The methods used are simple once learnt and as these projects are made on the sewing machine, you will soon be able to easily complete full size blinds and curtains in a few hours.

Roman Blinds

This is a simple method of blind construction, using rod pocket tapes attached to the back of the blind.  You will learn how to make standard fold blinds, where the folds all stack up neatly on top of each other and also, cascading fold blinds.  This is when the folds all cascade underneath each other, giving a waterfall effect.  I will give you free permanent access to the spreadsheet I have devised, which takes all the difficulty out of calculating where to place your rod pocket tapes.

You will learn how to measure your window, how to calculate the finished blind dimensions and fabric requirements and how to construct your blind.  You will make a sample size Roman blind, which will include all of the techniques required when making full size blinds and will become a valuable reference. You will be given comprehensive notes which include step by step instructions.

When making blinds for other people, you are legally obliged to ensure that they are compliant with current child safety legislation. We will discuss your legal obligations and I will demonstrate how to use the correct blind hardware and how to comply with the specific hanging regulations.

Machine Made Lined Curtains

I will teach you all the skills necessary to construct lined curtains to a professional standard.  This style of curtain is sewn on the machine and has a commercial heading tape attached with a machine sewn hem, using a blind hem foot.

You will learn how to calculate your required fabric quantities when using both plain or patterned fabrics, including how to calculate pattern repeats.  You will also learn how to join widths of fabric and achieve perfect pattern matching.  You will make a sample curtain, which will include all of the techniques needed to make full size curtains. You will receive comprehensive step by step instructions, including my easy to use table for calculating fabric quantities.  Finally, you will learn how to hang and dress your curtains to achieve a professional finish.

The cost of this combined course, inclusive of all materials is £185.00
